#1 Château de Blois – Where History Echoes
This was the highlight of my day — and truly, one of the most underrated castles in the Loire Valley.
Not only is it visually stunning with its mix of Gothic, Renaissance, and Classical styles, but it’s also steeped in powerful history.
🛡️ Did you know Joan of Arc came here in 1429 to receive her blessing before riding to Orléans? And that King Henri III ordered the assassination of the Duke of Guise right here in 1588?
📍 Location: Place du Château, 41000 Blois
🎟️ Entry: €12 (adults), €6.50 (children 6–17), free under 6
⏰ Time to Spend: 1.5–2 hours
👉 Tip: Buy a combo ticket if you’re visiting the Maison de la Magie too!

#2 Maison de la Magie Robert-Houdin – For the Dreamers
This was the highlight of my day — and truly, one of the most underrated castles in the Loire Valley.
Not only is it visually stunning with its mix of Gothic, Renaissance, and Classical styles, but it’s also steeped in powerful history.

#3 Jardin de l’Évêché – Garden Views Over the Loire
Take a short stroll up to this peaceful public garden with panoramic views over the Loire River.
It’s perfect for taking a moment to pause — especially after a busy morning in the château. There’s also a rose garden and sculpture park, depending on the season.
📍 Location: Near Blois Cathedral
🎟️ Free
⏰ Time to Spend: 30–45 minutes
📸 Best for Photos! Especially if you love soft light and river views.
#4 Walking Tour Through the Old Town
Blois is best seen slowly. Wander its winding cobbled streets, find half-timbered houses, and maybe grab a coffee or a pastry on the go.
You don’t need a guided tour — just let the streets lead you. But if you do prefer one, there are self-guided maps available at the tourist office.
📍 Start: Rue du Puits Châtel or Rue Saint Lubin
🗺️ Tip: Look out for hidden staircases and quiet courtyards!
#5 Pont Jacques Gabriel – A Golden Hour Moment
As your day winds down, cross this elegant 18th-century bridge for some of the best views of the Blois skyline.
If the light is soft and the river is calm, this is where Blois looks like a painting. You’ll want to pause here before heading back or catching your next train.
📍 Location: Boulevard des Cités Unies
⏰ Best Time: Around sunset
MIYA’s Bonus: Where to Eat
Since I only had a few hours, I kept it light — but here are a few options:
- Le Castelet – Classic French bistro, great for lunch
- Une Note de Vin – Local wine bar if you’re staying into the evening
- A good bakery – Honestly, any local boulangerie in Blois is worth it. Grab a croissant and keep moving!
