DAY OFF PLANS – HOW I RECHARGE ON A REGULAR BASIS
For me, the workweek is often full of obligations. And in the period when I didn’t have a baby, I always somehow had a lot of things that I had to finish and a lot of tasks to do during the week. Most of us are in a similar situation. That is why is good to have day off plans to recharge and boost your energy.
What has always thrilled me and made me feel good are the special events that happen once or twice a year or once every two years. It depends on where you live and what event it is. The AIR SHOW and MOTORCYCLE RACING is my thing, one of the most exciting events that make me feel relax and happy.
For me, a day off at an air show or motorcycle race is something that relaxes me and recharges my batteries. By ‘recharge’ I mean self-care, rest, and energy-boosting. That is not something that you should do just when you go on vacation only. That is why you need to make a plan for your days off. Every day, every week we need some charging. Energy-boosting has a lot of positive effects that affect our psyche and body such as:
- De-stress – helps to drive away unpleasant thoughts and tension. It all helps to find a balance in relation to the partner, the family and even ourselves.
- It can help to your immune system.
- Relaxation always leads us to think about beautiful things, and that way awakens our creativity. Usually, then some excellent ideas come to us.
AIR SHOW
We call the Aero Show in Serbia ‘Aeromiting,’ one of the most important events in the year when the army celebrates important events in military aviation. In 2012, the army celebrated ‘One Hundred Years of the Serbian military aviation.’ They put on a fantastic spectacle for that event. The Serbian army organized the arrival of foreign guests, 16 representatives from different countries, 27 aircraft (airplanes and helicopters), and about 200 crew members. That 100th jubilee was a memorable event.
Air show representatives are from Germany, the USA, Italy, Poland, Czechoslovakia, and France. What excites me is how trained these pilots are. The way they fly in those fast planes, what kind of maneuvers they make, which are very dangerous, leave me breathless.
Family Festivals
Such a large and significant event for the Serbian Army is most beautiful when supported by families. Parents bring their children to see these spectacular acrobatics. When I think back a little, both, my mom and dad took me to events like this when I was little, so that’s why I have a love for these great and unique aircraft. More than 30,000 people attended this event. Definitely is the perfect activity for a day off.
We had a chance to see helicopters ‘Gazelle’ and ‘Gamma’ and their maneuvers. We were lucky to see the acrobatics of MI-18 as well as the skillful flying of the transport helicopter ‘Spartan.’
The appearance of the Russian pilots of the acrobatic group “Strizhi” won our hearts with their flying, and it is complicated to explain these feelings of excitement into words.
The Danes introduced themselves with their F-16 aircraft Fighting Falcon, a single-engine multirole fighter aircraft made by United States Air Force (USAF). One of my favorite ones.
That sound of F-16 and look I cannot describe, and you have to experience. If you have such events in your city, I recommend you visit it even though it may never have occurred to you to watch a show of this type.
We also saw Swedish jets that left me speechless. Their Vigena flew solo. It is a single-seater AJS-37, and the formation and SK37E appeared with their unusual look.
The Air Force has once again shown that they have exciting aircraft. One of them is the C-130H “Hercules.” Also, I saw a flying radar system called the (AWACS) S100D Argus system, which I like. It was interesting to see a spacecraft transporting important people, the Gulfstream 550 (Tp102D).
Helicopters types
As for helicopters, it is fascinating what they can do. We can use helicopters most often to search for missing persons and to rescue them. We had the opportunity to see:
- A109LUH (Hkp15A)-It was made for reconnaissance and tactical transport. In UK Royal Force, used them for the transfer of VIPs and for communications.
- UH-60M or Black Hawk is designed to execute missions under all weather conditions for 24h. It is madetactical transport, exceptional for rescue missions, command, and control, medical evacuations, and delivery and extract soldiers, etc.
- NH90 (Hkp14) – It’s a crew of 3. With Goodrich Actuation System and Liebherr Aerospace, this aircraft has better maneuverability. Also, it is interesting fact that the NH90 NFH you can arm with anti-submarine torpedos.
We saw Bombardier Dash 8 Q300 which is good for patrolling and rescue. Then C-17A Globemaster is good for the global transport of troops and equipment. On the one hand, I am thrilled to see that man can make all these aircraft so powerful and the fantastic sound they produce. On the other hand, all these are aircraft designed to be used in war and in situations that are not interesting as a show. If you would like, you can see practice before the Air show (here).

MOTORCYCLE RACING EVENTS
What is most appealing to me is MotoGP. But small races can be fascinating, especially when young drivers are trying to break through to win. One of the smaller competitions is the international motorcycle race in Batajnica, Serbia. Competitors of the Eastern European Championship of Old Motorcycles are mostly classified by classes based on the years of production and engine volume.
Competitors from 11 countries, Serbia, Macedonia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Herzegovina, Turkey, Bosnia, and Romania, participated in the Eastern European Championship.
For me, the most exciting thing is to watch a class of 600cc or 1000 cc. There’s also a lot of fun when it comes to the 125cc. When the race is not attractive to me, then it is the right time to eat ‘Pljeskavica’ (Serbian Burger) and drink good wine :). The feeling is even better when all your friends and those you don’t know come to the race. Then the story about these machines doesn’t end, and sometimes the start of the race is missed due to trying out some bikes.
When we cannot watch the races live, there are always good cafes with a big screen and live broadcasts—an ideal place for socializing, relaxing, and watching races. You can find the MotoGP race calendar on their official website. If you ask me, it is best to gather children and friends and organize a MotoGP evening with a picnic on the floor. There is no better fun!
