Kids in Museum

Museums are not just places to admire art or artifacts; they have been proven to stimulate creativity and imagination in children. By exposing them to new ideas and perspectives, museums can help expand their minds and enhance their cognitive abilities. And what better place to do this than in the beautiful countryside of France? I already wrote a bit about that subject HERE.

My Journey

What my small family and I love to do is to wake up and see the sun. When Axel and I work, we do not have breakfast together because Axel does not like to get up very early, and I have to write my blog early in the morning. That is the only time I have for writing during the day.

That is why I love vacations! We all have breakfast together, which is our precious joy-filled time.

I do not like to sit at home and do nothing. That can happen occasionally, but most of the time, I love to explore, walk and enjoy places wherever I am. Partly I passed that passion to Sophie; I guess she didn’t have a choice as well as Axel.

Morning Touring through Nantes

We walked through the center of the city of Nantes, enjoying some old buildings decorated with sculptures. Before, when I saw architecture in Europe, it seemed to me every day. I admired the art people created in the past. But now, after a trip to Africa, Arabic countries, and New Zealand, I have started to appreciate it more and find it a unique part of the culture.

Buildings Aren’t the Only Thing You Can Experience in One Culture

When experiencing one culture, buildings and monuments are just the tip of the iceberg. In Europe, visitors can experience diverse cultures in many different ways. For example, if you take a trip to western France, there is so much more than just buildings and castles to explore.

Filming

One way to get a better understanding of the culture is through videos. Vlogging is an excellent way to capture all the unique European traveling experiences. It helps to provide an inside look at all the countries, cultures, and people that make up Europe. Plus, it’s an excellent way for family members to bond and share their travel experiences.

Museums

Exploring museums is another excellent way to learn about a particular culture and its history. Visiting museums can help spark a child’s curiosity about new places and allow them to learn about different societies and civilizations. This provides kids with educational opportunities and helps in brain development by encouraging them to ask questions, use their imagination, and think critically.

Local Cuisine

Experiencing local cuisine is also a great way to connect with a new culture while traveling in Europe. Whether Mediterranean food or Nantucket seafood dishes pique your interest, sampling new foods is always exciting! Eating local dishes allows visitors to connect with the locals over something they enjoy daily — food!

Nantes

I recently took a trip to Europe with my family. We started in western France, in a town called Nantes. The first thing we did was visit the castle there. It was so big and beautiful! We also went to some museums and ate at some great restaurants. The food was so good. I was so amazed by all the different cultures we experienced. Seeing how people live in different parts of the world was fascinating.

I think it’s so essential for kids to experience different cultures. It helps them learn about other people, and it also helps them understand their own culture better. Traveling is a great way to do this. If you can travel with your family, I highly recommend it!

Don’t Avoid Museums and Castles Because You Have Kids

If you plan to travel to Europe with your family and explore diverse cultures, then France is a great place to start! Whether it’s the world-famous sights or hidden gems, there are plenty of opportunities for exploration. We discovered some fantastic places that almost slipped away from us during our trip.

Our first stop was the west of France – a region filled with castles, monuments, and museums. We had planned to pass through this part of the country, but it became one of our favorite destinations! The castle ’Chateau des Ducs de Bretagne’ overlooked the Loire Valley and was like stepping into a fairy tale.

Sophie was small, just two years and a half, but the atmosphere, materials and a lot of paintings, different carets than at home, painted walls I believe had a considerable influence. It was a fascinating experience that sparked her imagination.

You probably think she is too young to absorb all the information that French history can offer, and you are right. It’s too much for adults too. Also, you are probably wondering how to manage to have young kids far from running and making a mess in a public place.

How to Manage Kids Behaviour in the Public Space

Yes, kids probably do that. I don’t think about that. Secondly, I try to imagine I am Sophie and think about what she would like to do, or I follow her and try to represent the space to her on her way.

What I mean by that is that whatever she would like to do, running, touching the staff she is supposed not to touch, I am trying to minimize all the actions. Just explain why she should not run a lot or touch old furniture or paintings in this case, and she will understand.

Unless she wants to touch it just because I said she should not. Have you been there? Yes, a lot of time, she likes to test my patience. And sometimes I don’t have it. But I always offer two options. The first option for her is to behave as a lady and be nice, or we can go home and spend all day at home doing nothing.

For me, it works. I understand that every kid is different, and I am writing about my experience, which may not work for you. However, be inspired to find a model that works for you and your kids. Also, keep in mind that if you are not firm, especially mothers, kids will never listen to you.

Château des Ducs de Bretagne

It was built in the late 15th century by François II – the last Duke of Brittany – and later by his daughter, Anne of Brittany, who was twice Queen of France.

The Dukes of Britain built a château to be a military fortress and a ducal residence. De Bretagne. The Château des Ducs de Bretagne is one of the main historic sites in Nantes. You can walk along the ramparts, wander through the gardens, and admire the ducal residence,
